Des Boyle of Forbes Boyle Property
The reality of tenants having to face paying rents whilst being unable to trade is merely in its infancy. We are just over three weeks of complete isolation with only certain food and drink outlets remaining open. In a short period of time, and particularly if this crisis lasts for more than a few weeks more, business tenants are going to have to look for reductions of rent or a block cancellation of rent for a relevant period.

Fashion retailer Penneys have already said they aren't paying rent. How will your Landlord react?

We are in a position to provide expert advice in dealing with this issue. Our consultant, Des Boyle is a Chartered Surveyor with more than 40 years' experience in advising on Landlord and Tenant issues particularly rent issues. He is also a qualified Arbitrator and has spent a good deal of his career in advising tenants.

Your lease may contain some clauses which would assist your claim, but even if not, it may be possible to come to an agreement with your landlord to deal with rent during this period and for the aftermath.

To find out more, please e mail us in confidence with an outline of your business, the size of the premises and the current rent.

Des Boyle will be happy to discuss how we might help.
